Cockroaches, Rain and the Blitz 9/25/2017

Kumusta! hope your week went very well! here is a little summary of mine:

So everyday this week it has rained, and when it rains here in the Philippines it floods. So Tuesday I went with Elder Uhler, the zone leader and we ran through the streets while we got soaked and it was actually way fun, we ran through knee deep water and he kept me laughing the whole time. We taught three lesson but since we were wet we just stood outside the door and taught them, it was funny. After we went to Macdo (mcdonalds) and I got a FAT burger and it was amazing.
Wednesday was kinda the same, I went with Elder Batilong our district leader and it started pouring right after we went out. So something about pinos: some of them believe that  if rains gets on their head they will get sick, so elder batilong made us go back to the apartment and we studied there for the rest of the day. I got to know him very well, and he is an awesome guy haha. Thursday same story expect the rain stopped after lunch so we were able to get some lessons done. We ate at a members house and they are amazing cooks, the food was sooo good. The more and more I eat their food the more I like it. Friday my companion had a dermatologist appointment and we had zone interviews, I got to talk with President Hughes and some of the APs about my adjustments here. President Hughes is a baller, straight up.

Saturday was the blitz. Our whole zone got together in our ward, there were missionaries all over the place. I went with our ward mission leader who is an RM so he knew what he was doing. We contacted all day and some of the places we couldnt get to because of the flood waters. I invited a bunch of people to church and we taught one really good lesson. It was a really good experience. Afterwards our mission president bought us pizza, real good tasting pizza. OHHH it was good. Sunday we went to church all day and figured out what we learned from the blitz, we have our work cut out for us, hopefully the baptisms and conversions will start rolling in.

Because of the rain there are cockroaches everywhere. They can fly too so they are hard little buggers to kill. My companion likes to scream everytime he kills one, it s hilarious hahaha. So i think we killed like 16 in the span of an hour, its crazy but it keeps us entertained. Also i can almost solve a rubix cube, ive been practicing at night when i get bored.

OK THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART: MY SISTER IS 21 TODAY, SHE IS THE BEST SISTER IN THE WORLD AND SO EVERYONE THAT READS THIS WISH HER HAPPY BIRHTDAY. k salamat

Love you all have a great week, remember to read everyday ðŸ’§ðŸ”¥

9/18/2017 Mission Tour and Baptism

Kumusta! I hope that everyone is doing good!

This week was a pretty long hard week.
Friday we had a mission tour and Neil Anderson of the 12 spoke to the Quezon City mission and the Quezon City North mission. The church we went to was huge and there was like 300 missionaries there. I got to see Elder St. John, he is doing great. It was a great experience and i was able to see and meet a ton of missionaries in my mission. Later we did a lot of work with the zone leaders trying to find less actives, my zone leaders are really cool and they know how to work hard. There are a ton of cockroaches in our apartment so when we are bored we catch them and burn them, its awesome. Oh yeah and one of the zone leader loves to kick cats, and its pretty funny when he does. The area I am in has this huge market with fresh meat and fish, it smells so extremely bad. I sweat 24/7 and i am kind of used to it by know, its not that it is hot but the humidity is crazy so you sweat a lot. The weather is crazy as well one day it is sunny and another day it rains and floods.

On saturday I got my first baptism. I baptized Carl De Vera, he is a 12 year old and he pretty much is the only active member in his family. It was the coolest experience ever. We had to make the program and set it all up because sometimes our ward leaders do not really help. We have a couple progressing investigators but right now we are focused mainly on the less active and cleaning up the ward list. There are 500 people on the ward list but only like 100 people are active. Tagalog is hard but it is slowly coming, the food is whack as ever, the smells here are interesting, but every day i grow a little but more and love the people a little bit more, before I know it I will be a filipino haha. I encourage everyone to read the book of mormon every single day, it is an amazing book, it helps me and i know it will help you. if you have not read for a while take it and read a couple pages a day, i promise it will help. Love you all! Also i have a lot of pictures coming next week.

Week Isa sa Field 9/11/2017

Ya know I never really knew what culture shock was before, but wow I know it now. haha

This week was the last week of the MTC and the first week in the field. I saw Elder St John in the MTC and we talked it was really good to hear from him again! I got to the mission office on Wednesday, the drive was crazy and the sister missionary in our car was throwing up the whole way there. We had a bunch of orientation meetings and then I got my trainer......Elder Morris. He is from Las Vegas, he has been here for 14 months and he is honestly the perfect trainer for me. He is hilarious and he knows the area really well. We are in the Fairview Stake assigned to the Don Antonio Ward. We also have a senior couple who are missionaries from Alberta Canada they are awesome, they treat us like their grandkids haha. So the ward here is pretty unstable and unorganized. A lot of less actives and the leadership is not the greatest. We had a baptism on saturday, her name was Alexa, she is a convert, the baptism was supposed to be at 5 pero (but) in Philippino time that means 5:45 lol. It took 4 hours to fill the font beacause the water pressure is so low. We have another baptism this saturday who is another convert. He is 12, he is awesome, the only one in his family who wants to change get baptized and go to church every week. It is so hot and humid here, i sweat soooo much all night and every day. I am way tired as well because I am learning a lot at a very fast pace. I am still adjusting to the way of life here, wow some of these people are sooooo poor. I have had a coouple dinner appointments so far and luckily the food was aight. I love rice, its the only thing here that is consistently good. Tagalog is hard. that is all. Love you all SOOOOO much! hope you all stay safe and remember to pray every day. Talk to ya next week, kita kits mamaya. Mahal ko kayong lahat!
