Transfer Week 11/28/2017

Kumusta sa Inyong lahat!

This week was Thanksgiving and also transfer week. I found out that I am being transferred to Lagro ward in Fairview zone, so I am in the same zone and stake just in another ward. Me and Elder Morris my tatay are splitting. My training is over and it is time to move on to greater pastures. My new companion is going home January 10 so in another 6 weeks I will have another companion. crazy stuff.

So this week was a really fun week. We had Thanksgiving on thursday and we all put away like 500 pesos for it so we could all have a feast. We made mashed potatoes that were divine. Also we got some chicken and rice and some soda. It was a great thanksgiving with my three fellow kabahays. On friday we had zone conference that lasted all day. It was really good and we learned about ITA's and how we can invite people to commit. Also about companionship unity and the atonement. Here in the philippines it is hard to stay focused during the sacrament because all the kids run wild and as a missionary it is easy to worry about investigators. So we made up some ways we can focus. For me, I am going to try and read through the sacrament hymns during the sacrament. The sacrament is so very important to us in our lives and I hope you all can find ways to focus during the sacrament. Anyway the week was very good. Erwins baptism is still up in the air but since I am leaving I wont get to see it but it will happen someday. Our bishop met with us and we worked out the bumps in our realtionship and he is willing to work with the missionaries again! thank goodness. We fed our left overs from thanksgiving to a dog across the street and he almost bit us in the process haha. Looking back on thanksgiving there is so much to be thankful for, all my family members, all my teachers, friends, and people I have met on my mission so far. I am so blessed and I just want to thank all of you for all your support and love. I hope you all have a great week, mahal kita

11/21/2017 Craziness

Hello Hello Everyone. This. Week. Was. Crazy.
but it was also good too.

So this week we had a temple p-day, so we had a long week before our next p-day. The week was good until Saturday then everything went crazy. We had another blitz in the Lagro area. it was really fun, i took some of the young men and just went door to door and went finding for a couple hours, it was good for my tagalog and it was fun to see the young men help out with the missionary work. We did not find anyone too interested but we found an old guy who told me he wanted to join the church so he can have "many wives"...hahaha i could not help but laugh when he said that. Erwin our investigator had a baptism date for November 25th so he was gonna go get interviewed saturday night. yeah, he never showed up for the interview. Also we found a stray cat trapped in the church and Elder Morris chased it around for like 20 minutes trying to get it out hahahaha. the cat had no grip so it was slippin around everywhere, we finally got it out after Elder Morris trapped it in a mop bucket and kicked it out the door.

so we rescheduled the interview for sunday morning. He said he would be there...yeah he didnt show up. We rescheduled again for monday morning after calling the president and pulling some strings...yeah, he showed up! and long story short, he has to get his baptism postponed to at least Dec 2nd. So it was hard for us to deal with, the ward was asking us all sorts of questions and we had to repeat what happened over and over. On monday we found some and visited him to try and figure out some stuff. On tuesday we went finding and we found this crazy guy who tried to speak english to us (we could really understand him too well haha) He thought we were 'born again' but we assured him that we were the mormons. He was really funny and at the end of the lesson he pretty much forced us to tell him our first names so he could pray for us. When he found out my name was Hunter, he started making jokes about how i should hunt anyone and how I shouldnt shoot anyone at night...hahahaha ya it was whack for sure. Today We went to the temple. ohhhhh man i love going there so much. It was a much needed brake from crazy missionary life. Tomorrow is thanksgiving and we will probably eat chicken and rice (like always). Friday is zone conference, and next wednesday is transfer day....im kinda nervous to see where I end up or who my new comp is gonna be. Yeah. thats it. I would like to encourage you all to go to the temple as much as possible. So many good things come from temple attendance including personal revelation. Always remember to read every day and pray always. Pray works talaga. Thats all Love you All.

11/13/2017 Pogi ako talalga

Kumusta po! Masaya ako para sa yung araw na ito sa magbahagi sa inyong lahat!

My week was a little bit up and down. The week started of great with our district activity, we went to an all you can eat dessert buffet. It was good for the first 10 minutes and then we all felt sick and had LBM's afterward hahaha. It was a good time. We had zone interviews this week and my mission president, President Hughes gave me a lot of good counsel on how to not worry about things you cannot control, how adversity is good and necessary. He is an awesome mission president. Wednesday it rained all day and we worked but no one let us in, they all came up with the excuse that its raining so we cant let you in.....yeah i dont understand either. On thursday we went on spllits with the Zone Leaders, It was awesome and i learned a lot of new vocab and teaching skills. It also rained all day. Elder Yates one of my zl's showed me a rap he wrote in tagalog. its dope. Friday it rained again and I did alot of language study. We finished the lessons with Erwin!! he should be getting baptized on the 25th if everything goes well. We also saw this cat kill a rat during the lesson it was crazy awesome. Elder Connell spotted us Macdo and it was flippin awesome, 12 chicken sandwiches and a bunch i Saturday was just another day, we had to drop the Mcivers because they were not progressing, we tried to visit the other investigators but they were all gone or they just didnt answer. Sunday was a little crazy, we had stake conference. the stake president asked all the missionaries to stand and while we were standing he said that these are the people who are going to progress the work, but we need members to help. He asked who is going to be a missionary everyday and everyone stood up it was awesome. The bishop of our ward doesnt like us though, he is not very willing to help us either. It is what it is, we are still going to work hard. On sunday night we had a tender mercy, we found a family of 4 who seemed really interseted and asked if we could come back the next day! hopefully they are willing to act. Thats all though. Love you guys, keeping you all in my prayers. Shoutout to the homies out in the mission field, shoutout to my fam bam. Remember to read everyday and be cheerful. Until next week.

p.s. someone please update me on the Jazz haha, i heard Mitchell is balling it up, k thanks

Doing it for the culture 11/6/2017

Hello everyone! Hope your week was as good as mine was!

So the week started off with Power Scrub, we cleaned for 6 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our house is squeaky clean now haha. The next day we found these kittens in a little patch of jungle, we saw that they were going to die so we took them and saved them from certain death. After, one of the street cats took it in so they are alive. Elder Morris and I tried really hard this week to work with members, almost all the appointments fell through, but the ward is helping us more and more. We found a bunch of less actives and hopefully soon our ward can start home teaching! yeah! I found this really good oatmeal at the store this week and I have eaten it everyday so far. Its awesome, banana and honey. We found some new investigators and we are sifting through some of the ones we have. One of them is named WIlfredo and he is very religious, but no matter how many times we tell him that the Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the ONLY true church on the earth, he does not seem to get it haha. We have set up a lot of baptism dates for our progressing investigators. The closest one in on November 25th. im excited for it , his name is Erwin, he is a trike driver and he had a bap date before he just didnt show up to the baptism haha. We met this one lady who tried to convince us that jesus christ did not exist and that there is a sun god??? the best part is after that, when she prayed, she ended it in the name of jesus christ. hahaha idk. The language is getting better and better each week. It rained every day this week, elder morris and I got 263 ITA's and were going for even more this week. Shoutout to all the homies out there serving missions, love you guys. Shoutout to the fam, love you guys. Remember to read every day. if you have questions email me becasue I dont have a lot of time to email haha. Love you ALL!
